The Staff

The experienced staff at Little Crickets have all worked together for many years and continue to focus on creating a welcoming, friendly, positive learning environment.

Nicky- Nursery Manager/Owner

Nicky completed her teacher training course in Roehampton and then worked at a small school in Putney.  She soon turned her attention to full-time motherhood and had 4 children, before returning to teaching.  She has 9 grandchildren, 3 of whom have attended Little Crickets. They all enjoy being at “Granny’s school”!  Nineteen years ago, Nicky began working at a small nursery school in Hampshire.  Over time, she became the Deputy Head and, when the owner retired, bought the school and re-named it Little Crickets in 2010. Through tireless hard work, dedication and passion, Nicky has created a happy, secure learning environment where every child flourishes as an individual.

“(I hope that) every child leaves us confident in themselves and ready to move onto the bigger educational world”

Tanya

Tanya trained as a Montessori teacher and has worked in 2 London prep schools, as well as running a Nursery School in Balham.  She has been at Little Crickets, and its former setting, for over 10 years and is supported by her husband and 2 sons.  Tanya offers her ‘Dragons’ clear guidance and exciting learning opportunities through her enthusiasm, confidence and a love of teaching.
“The relationships between the staff is more as friends rather than colleagues….we have lovely parents who treat us as equals”

Emma

Emma has worked at Little Crickets since the beginning, and taught at the former setting from when her son was there (he is now in his final year of university!).  Emma, her husband and 3 children live in Long Sutton.  Her interest in art and creativity means that Emma is always thinking of new imaginative ways for the children to learn.
“(We aim to give the children) a gentle fun start to their education”

Victoria (Tor)

Tor has completed the NVQ Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development course and has completed her Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator (SENCo) training..  She lives locally with her husband and two daughters who are both studying at university.  Tor is very calm and creative in her teaching approach.  She is also a trained Cordon Bleu cook and often leads cooking sessions!
“I enjoy…seeing the joy on their faces when they achieve their new goals.”

Catherine Brooks-Ward

Catherine has been teaching at Little Crickets and its former setting for 16 years.  She has completed the NVQ Level 3 Children’s Care, Learning and Development course.  Catherine has 3 children of her own and particularly enjoys being involved with young children in their formative years.  She offers her ‘Hedgehogs’ a calm, caring introduction to their education, instilling in them a sense of fun and an awareness of others.
“I enjoy watching the children grow in confidence and knowledge during their time at Little Crickets.”

Sarah Whitley

Sarah rejoined us in April 2020. She is working with the younger children and she has a natural empathy and calmness which means the children are relaxed and happy in her care. As a result their mornings with us pass in laughter, singing, games, play and very rarely tears!
Sarah has 2 grown up children and now enjoys working again with little ones.
"Coming in each time to see the happy faces of the children and working with them is a pleasure.
